After going 0-for-3 through the first six innings, Gavin Hall stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the seventh with his No. 8 West Springfield squad tied with visiting No. 2 Pittsfield.
Hall made contact with the ball and sent it through the Pittsfield defense for an RBI single to win the game, 5-4, and keep the Terriers (6-0) undefeated on the season.
Wiatt Bolduc had a productive outing on the mound, allowing only two hits and one run in 3.1 innings. Along with being credited with the win, Bolduc had a two-hit day and scored one run on offense.
Despite the loss, Jack Reed and Connor Devine had strong individual performances for the Generals (6-1), with each notching two hits during Friday’s matchup. On the mound for Pittsfield, Simon Mele allowed two hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out eight batters.
After suffering their first loss of the season, the Generals will look to bounce back in their next matchup against Westfield on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
The Terriers will look to maintain their undefeated season as they host Pope Francis on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
