Throw out or return these cashews if you bought them at Walmart

A brand of cashews sold in Walmart stores are being recalled in 30 states, including Massachusetts, over allergy concerns.

Walmart’s “Great Value Honey Roasted Cashews” could contain traces of coconut and milk, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in a statement from Wednesday.

“The recall was initiated after a consumer report of finding coconut cashews within a container labeled as honey roasted cashews,” the FDA said. “An investigation identified that a limited number of incorrect honey roasted cashew labels were applied to the plastic cans of coconut cashews during the manufacturing process.”

The potentially affected nuts come in 8.25-ounce plastic containers with a blue wrap around label, have a “best if used by” date of July 8, 2025 on the bottom of the can and have the UPC number 078742133348.

The cashews were sold in select Walmart stores in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and West Virginia. The nuts were also sold online.

So far no adverse reactions have been reported, the FDA said. Anyone who purchased the cashews is asked to throw them out or return them for a refund.
