How will the Springfield Parking Authority dig out of its deferred maintenance hole?

SPRINGFIELD – With revenues barely meeting operating costs, the Springfield Parking Authority must be more aggressive in seeking grants and other funding, a city councilor says, to make more than $17 million in deferred repairs to the three garages it owns.

The Parking Authority owns four garages and a handful of smaller lots downtown. Keeping those garages well-maintained and inviting is vital to revitalization, since people won’t come to the city’s center for work and entertainment if they don’t have a place to park, said City Councilor Sean Curran.
