Mass. shop that sold 2 $100K lottery winners Thurs. sold a $1M ticket in 2021

Two of the biggest lottery winners in the state were both sold at the same Danvers shop on Thursday.

Village Food Shop in Danvers sold two winning $100,000 tickets in the game “Mass Cash,” according to the Massachusetts State Lottery.

The same store, located at 37 High St. in Danvers, sold a $1 million prize less than three years earlier, on Wednesday, Nov. 10, lottery records show.

That ticket was for a game called “The Fastest Road to $1,000,000.” It was the largest lottery prize sold in Danvers that year.

To play “Mass Cash,” a player selects five numbers from 1-35. Those who match all five numbers win $100,000. Tickets cost $1 and drawings are daily at 9 p.m. Odds of winning $100,000 are 1 in 324,632. Smaller prizes for matching four numbers ($250) and three numbers ($10) are also awarded. Overall odds of winning are 1 in 72.

Other $100,000 prizes from Thursday were sold or claimed in Winthrop and Marlborough.

Overall, there were at least 546 lottery prizes worth $600 or more won or claimed in Massachusetts on Saturday, including nine in Springfield, 17 in Worcester and 49 in Boston.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

So far, the two largest lottery prizes won in Massachusetts in 2024 were two $4 million prizes. One was claimed on Tuesday, Jan. 16, and the other was claimed on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
