Road repair needs top $23.11 million, with $1.45 million available to spend

SOUTHWICK — Every year, DPW Director Randy Brown appears before the Select Board to provide them a prioritized list of road, sidewalk and culvert repair projects, and every year the list gets longer and the dollar figures grow larger.

“There’s about $1.45 million available for the next round of projects,” Brown said during the meeting after he had provided the board a list of 43 projects he’s identified as high-need, with an estimated cost of $23.11 million.

This is a nearly two-fold increase over last year’s project list, which identified 28 as high-need.
