Friends of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail plant new pollinator gardens

WESTFIELD — The Friends of Columbia Greenway Rail Trail recently planted new native pollinator gardens that have been in the works since last year after the Department of Public Works converted two unused bocce courts on the Westfield River Esplanade into raised garden beds.

The Friends had two objectives in mind: to reduce vandalism and destruction along the greenway and to promote community involvement in this scenic public space by starting a native flower and herb garden, said President Carmel Steger.
