Residents asked to participate in Open Space forum on Nov. 12

Map of 17 acres of riverfront on Route 20
A map shows the 17 acres of riverfront property known as Tekoa Narrows (marked on the map as “Subject”) that Westfield purchased as open recreational space, along with adjoining city- and state-owned lands along Russell Road (Route 20). The dotted line at top-left is the Westfield-Russell border. (SUBMITTED)

WESTFIELD — Members of the community will have their opportunity to express their opinions on the Open Space and Recreation Plan that will guide the City of Westfield for the next ten years at a public forum on Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Westfield River Elementary School.

City Planner Jay Vinskey said a committee of approximately one dozen city officials and interested citizens under the leadership of the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission have been meeting for the past few months forming a plan. He said the Nov. 12 forum will open it up by asking the public to envision what the next 10 years of recreation planning should look like in Westfield.
