BOSTON — Lucas Giolito has been disappointed by his own performance to date. Even allowing for missing all of last season as he recovered from elbow surgery, a 6.42 ERA was not what he had been expecting from himself.
Personal pride aside, Giolito understood that he had an obligation to his teammates. With one notable exception, the Red Sox’ tarting rotation in general has underperformed and Gioilito felt a responsibility to change that.
