WESTFIELD – The St. Mary’s High School girls soccer team had chances early and more opportunities late, but in the end the Saints were forced to make an early exit from the Western Massachusetts tournament.
Freshman midfielder Giana Carlino took a pass from junior defender Leanna Driscoll and buried a shot just past the midway point of the second half of a Pioneer Valley Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class D girls soccer tournament quarterfinal for the game’s only goal to help No. 6 Lee upset third-seeded St. Mary’s 1-0 on Wednesday at Woronoco Field.
