Fundraiser launched for family of woman killed in road rage incident in Mass.

A GoFundMe to help the family of Destini Decoff, a woman who was killed when she was struck by a vehicle in Hopkinton in an apparent road rage incident, pay for funeral arrangements has raised more than $7,000 in less than a day.

Decoff was seriously injured when she was hit by the car Thursday night on Route 85 in Hopkinton, and died of her injuries on Saturday, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office.

Prosecutors say Ryan Sweatt, 36, of Milford, made a u-turn at a “high rate of speed” and hit Decoff in the street after he “became engaged in an apparent road rage incident with another vehicle.”

Sweatt is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, operating to endanger and a marked lanes violation.

It was not immediately clear if he would face additional charges following Decoff’s death.

The online fundraiser for Decoff’s family was launched Sunday and had already garnered 145 donations as of Monday morning.

Decoff’s mother, Tracy Decoff, said her daughter was with a group of friends on Thursday night when the car behind them began riding their bumper.

The group got out of the car, at which point the other vehicle tried to run them over, she said in a Facebook post. The other vehicle then turned around and hit Destini Decoff head-on, throwing her in the air.

Destini Decoff was “injured from head to toe” following the collision, Tracy Decoff said.

“Today my biggest fear as a mother became my reality. My firstborn child & best friend is no longer with me,” Tracy Decoff wrote, promising her daughter she would “get justice for you regardless of what it takes.”

“My heart hurts & my soul is shattered,” Tracy Decoff added in a post on Monday. “She didn’t deserve this.”
