East Longmeadow got a hard-fought win over Boston Latin Academy, 3-1, in the Division II state tournament Round of 16 on Wednesday.
Tavion Rehbein led the offense with 20 kills alongside an ace and four digs. Other team leaders included Cole Berthiaume with 43 assists, and Ben Mannheim sat alongside Rehbein in kills with 19.
The Spartans’ overall record improves to 18-5 as they look ahead to their quarterfinal opponent, No. 1 Agawam.
No. 4 West Springfield (3), No. 20 Lynn Classical (0)
West Springfield boys volleyball made its way past Lynn Classical 25-21, 25-19, 25-21 on Monday during the Division II state tournament Round of 16.
Prasanta Bhandari led the offense with 39 assists along with his three digs and one ace. Aleksandr Bak also had a big day on the court with 17 kills and three digs.
West Springfield will now take on Western Massachusetts opponent No. 5 Chicopee Comp in the Round of 8.
No. 6 Marlborough (3), No. 11 Southwick (2)
Southwick forced Marlborough to five sets in the Division II state tournament Round of 16 on Wednesday. After the Panthers won the first two, 25-18, 25-13, the Rams stormed back to win the following two 25-21, 25-19.
In the final set, Marlborough came out on top 15-13, leading Southwick to fall 3-2 in a hard-fought contest.
Nicolas Spina tallied a team-high 29 kills for the Rams. Phong Tran led with 33 assists and five blocks, and Max Salvador recorded 28 digs. Spina and Salvador each surpassed 500 career digs in the contest.
Southwick ends its 2025 season with a final record of 16-6.
