Ed Sheeran, Tyler Childers and The Killers will headline Boston Calling this year, but they are not the only notable acts taking the stage at the 3-day festival.
The headliners will be joined by more than 50 artists, including more than 20 acts from the Northeast.
To highlight these local artists, MassLive will publish profiles on the acts leading up to the festival’s May 24 start date.
Beach Weather
Local band Beach Weather is looking to bring the group’s soulful indie pop to Boston Calling for the first time this year.
The group will be playing the Red Stage on Friday, May 24 before David Kushner and Leon Bridges take over later in the day. While frontman Nick Santino feels honored to be sharing the stage with these artists, he’s mostly looking forward to seeing how Friday’s headliner controls the crowd.
“I met Ed [Sheeran] once a long long time ago after his show at the Boston House of Blues,” Santino told MassLive. “The way he captivated a loud Boston crowd that night was something special. Will be cool to see him do it in front of a couple thousand.”
Beach Weather formed in 2015 and released the “What A Drag” EP and toured alongside The Maine thereafter. The following year, Beach Weather joined Sleeping With Sirens on a U.K. tour and released a second EP, “Chit Chat.”
The band would later have a resurgence after the song “Sex, Drugs, Etc.,” which came off “Chit Chat,” went viral in 2022. This was complimented with Beach Weather’s release of “Pineapple Sunrise” in 2023.
As a Braintree native, Santino has been to Boston Calling before and recalled thinking “how cool it would be to play.” Therefore his first performance at the festival will be a career high for the musician.
“It’s pretty incredible honestly. I’m from the South Shore and have never played a local music festival like this before,” Santino said.
“Looking out at a hometown crowd is always a special feeling,” he added. “Also, to be able to wake up/go to sleep in my own bed and also play a festival that same day is going to be a cool feeling.”

Boston Calling will take place Memorial Day Weekend from Friday, May 24, until Sunday, May 26, at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston.
