‘90s metal band cancels New England show after drummer’s ‘medical emergency’

Alice in Chains had to cancel a New England concert last minute because of their drummer‘s sudden medical emergency.

The band said Sean Kinney “experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency” after soundcheck at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut on Thursday night, May 8.

“We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show,” Alice in Chains wrote on X. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”

Alice in Chains has yet to provide an update on Kinney’s condition. Fans have sent encouraging messages to the drummer on social media.

“I hope Sean is okay. Super bummed,“ one X user wrote. ”I really hope you guys can make it back sometime soon.”

“Hope all will be okay. Y’all will be missed,” another X user wrote.

The Connecticut concert was the band’s first full live show since their performance at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas in April 2024, according to Billboard.

Alice in Chains has several gigs lined up on the band’s current tour, with their next show scheduled for Saturday in Camden, New Jersey.
