Amherst middle school principal finalist files federal lawsuit against district

An Amherst Regional Middle School dean of students and middle school principal finalist filed a lawsuit on Friday against the district and administrators for defamation and violating civil rights laws and the district’s policies against discrimination, harassment, and bullying, according to a copy provided to MassLive.

The federal lawsuit filed by Lamikco “Meka” Magee names the Amherst-Pelham Regional Public Schools, former Amherst superintendent Michael Morris, current interim superintendent Douglas Slaughter and former assistant superintendent and director of diversity, equity and inclusion and human resources Doreen Cunningham as defendants.
