$1 million prize claimed in $50 Mass. lottery game

A Massachusetts State Lottery player claimed a $1 million prize in the lottery’s “Lifetime Millions” game on Thursday, the third-highest prize offered in the $50 game.

The winning ticket was sold at Honey Farms in Fitchburg.

In “Lifetime Millions,” players can win prizes up to $1 million a year for life. That prize remains the single-largest prize won in the Bay State this year.

Of the 12 $1 million prizes offered in “Lifetime Millions,” five have been claimed. Only one person has won the second-largest prize, $2 million.

The odds of winning $1 million in “Lifetime Millions” are one in 2.1 million. The game costs $50 to play.

Also on Thursday, a pair of $100,000 prizes were claimed in the lottery’s “Diamond Deluxe” game. Those tickets were sold at a 7-Eleven in New Bedford and at Country Club Sooper in Upton.

Overall, at least 449 prizes worth $600 or more were won or claimed in Massachusetts on Thursday, including 11 in Springfield, 21 in Worcester and 31 in Boston.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

So far, the largest lottery prize won in Massachusetts this year was worth $1 million a year for life.

The prize was from the lottery’s “Lifetime Millions” scratch ticket game. The winner claimed their prize through a trust on July 10, and opted to receive a one-time payment of $15.4 million.
