Would this 3-time Super Bowl winner want to join Bill Belichick’s staff?

Bill Belichick still doesn’t have a new team. But when he does, whether he lands in Atlanta, or wherever a new head coaching job might take him, he’ll need to round out his coaching staff.

There’s already talk about him bringing the band back together, so to speak, with Matt Patricia, Josh McDaniels, Joe Judge and others expected to join him.

With Ivan Fears now retired, might Belichick consider one of his former greats to handle the running backs?

During the latest “Eye on Foxborough” podcast, three-time Super Bowl winner James White said he’d certainly be tempted, but wasn’t sure what he’d do if Belichick eventually asked.

“It would interest me some,” White said when asked if he’d entertain the notion of coaching if Belichick asked. “I don’t know exactly if I’d be 100 percent into it right now. Coaching is very demanding. It takes a lot of your time. It takes more time than being a player. During the season, they’re there from like 6 a.m. to however long designing game plans, making sure everything is working on a day-to-day basis.

“It’s definitely something I’d consider,” he went on. “I don’t know exactly if I’d take the job. I’ve got two little ones. I don’t think I’m ready to jump into that just yet at this point in my life.”

Patriots coach Jerod Mayo is currently interviewing candidates to fill out his football staff. Thus far, there haven’t been any running backs coaches on his interview roster. At least, none have been reported. Vinnie Sunseri currently holds that job. It’s unclear if he would leave for Belichick’s next outpost.
