A Worcester man was convicted of first-degree murder on Thursday for the killing of a 23-year-old man in Fitchburg in July 2019, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said.
Mugisha Jeanbosco, 27, was also convicted of armed robbery. A conviction of first-degree murder carries a mandatory sentence of life without the possibility of parole. Jeanbosco’s sentencing is set for Aug. 1, Early’s office said in a statement.
Along with Jeanbosco, two other men have been charged in connection with the death of 23-year-old Leon Wilson Jr., of Fitchburg.
Wilson was shot shortly before 9 p.m. in July 2019 near Blossom Street in Fitchburg, where it intersects with Pie Alley — a cut-through that links Blossom Street and Day Street. He was brought to Leominster Hospital and pronounced dead.
Jason Robinson, 39, of Fitchburg, and Jonathan Baez, 25, of Worcester, are both due back in court on Aug. 25 on charges of armed robbery and accessory after the fact of murder, Early’s office said.
