Worcester’s city employee count increased in 2023, as well as how much employees collectively earned that year, according to payroll records obtained by MassLive.
The city employs more than 8,010 people, an increase over the more than 7,900 working for the city in 2022. More people working means more money, and city employees collectively earned $519 million in 2023, a city spokesperson confirmed with MassLive, a 9.3% increase from the $487 million collectively earned in 2022.
