The girls basketball postseason tips off across Western Mass. on Wednesday with the start of all four tournaments. Here is how the teams stack up in the final Western Mass. rankings of the season.

Central enters the Class A tournament as favorites to lift the trophy for a fifth year in a row. The Golden Eagles fended off a late comeback from Longmeadow on Sunday to bounce back from last week’s loss to Minnechaug. Central followed up with an impressive win over South High on Tuesday, led by Gia Mars with 20 points.

Of the other contenders in Class A, Minnechaug stands out. The Falcons are riding a five-game winning streak into the postseason, with three wins in a row by over 35 points. As the sole WMass team to beat Central this season, the Falcons have plenty of reason to be confident.

Longmeadow and Northampton could spoil either Central or Minnechaug’s run to the finals along the way.

Pittsfield enters the Class B tournament as slight favorites to clinch its second-consecutive title. The Generals roll into the tournament on a five-game win streak, with massive wins over Taconic and Wahconah this past week.

South Hadley will be looking to avenge last year’s loss in the Class B finals and enters as one of this year’s strongest challengers. After struggling for much of the season in the Valley League conference, the Tigers have rallied, winning their last four games in a row.

But the Tigers will most likely have to go through Frontier along the way. The Red Hawks carry a six-game winning streak with them into the tournament, highlighted by a hard-earned victory over the Tigers on Jan. 27.

Drury enters the Class C tournament favored to lift its first WMass title since 2001. The Blue Devils sport a 6-0 record on the season against Division V competition and been competitive against some of the top-ranked teams, highlighted by wins over Pope Francis and Wahconah earlier this season.

Granby enters the Class D tournament favored its first WMass title since 2007. The Rams have won their last six games in a row, with wins over Sci-Tech and Hopkins Academy this past week.
