Some localized severe wind and isolated rainfall could still hit parts of Central and Western Massachusetts later on Thursday, with a brief reprieve from the rain likely in place until Saturday night.
A cold front slowly entering southern New England is also bringing a slight risk for unstable weather going into the late afternoon and the evening, according to the National Weather Service. But dry air is likely to leave any potential storms struggling to develop, leaving it to only be localized and isolated severe winds and potentially brief torrential rain.
By 7 p.m., a heat advisory covering most of Massachusetts is likely to lift as cooler conditions and less humidity start to appear with the passage of a dry air mass, forecasters said.
Temperatures on Friday should drop between 80 and 85 degrees, forecasters continued. With humidity and cloud cover expected to be gone, forecasters anticipate mostly sunny skies.
Dry conditions should carry on into Saturday before another round of potential thunderstorms could arise late in the evening and into Sunday, the weather service stated. Two inches of localized, precipitable water could fall and potentially bring some street flooding. Forecasters so far have seen no indication of potential flash flooding happening.
