What will the weather be like on Halloween night in Massachusetts?

While you might need an umbrella before you go to work Monday, you can most likely ditch the rain gear when you go trick-or-treating Tuesday night.

The forecast for Oct. 30 calls for periods of light to moderate rain that will last throughout the morning and afternoon before tapering off by the evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Once this clears, much drier, yet cooler weather is in store of Halloween. The forecast for Tuesday calls for sunny skies but with temperatures about 10 degrees cooler than normal, the weather service said.

The Weather Channel anticipates temperatures in the high 40s on Oct. 31, with Springfield on track to reach as high as 50 degrees. Winds won’t be high, and they should stay level going into the evening.

By Tuesday night, temperatures should see between a minimal or a substantial drop from daytime highs.

Boston is expected to go from 49 degrees to 42 degrees, Worcester should see a 10-degree drop down to 38 degrees after sunset, and Springfield could go from 50 degrees during the day to 35 degrees in the evening.

Temperatures could drop into the low 30s across the state Tuesday night, according to forecasters, so it might be worth finding creative ways to layer those costumes depending on how late you stay out.

Meanwhile, the chance for wet and cold weather returns Wednesday before temperatures start to heat up by Saturday, forecasters said.
