The wins just keep piling up for Weymouth baseball. After beating Milton 6-1 Monday night, Weymouth has won seven straight, and 15 total on the year.
The victory also secures them the title for the Herget Division of the Bay State Conference, after partially clinching the crown against Braintree last week.
It’s the third conference crown in three seasons for the Wildcats who have tallied 46 wins since the start of the 2023 season.
Throughout this year’s run, it’s been the team’s starting pitching that has delivered many of the victories.
Jack Reyes threw his fourth shutout against Braintree and on Monday against Milton, Nate Oates tossed a complete game for Weymouth.
“We feel good, however, I just told the team, if it wasn’t for our pitching I don’t know where we’d be because we struggle on the bases,” Weymouth coach Joe Paolucci said after beating Braintree. “We’re the best first inning team in the country. Innings two through seven, not so much.
“I just want to make sure we’re peaking at the right time.“
Before they can head back into the state tournament, the Wildcats have two more regular season games at home to complete first.
Weymouth will host Newton North at on Wednesday, May 21 at 4:30 p.m. The Wildcats will then the close the regular season on Friday, May 23 with a 7:30 p.m. start against Norwell.
