Like grief, COVID changes lives and lingers. COVID-19 was declared a public health emergency of international concern on 30 January 2020. It officially became a pandemic on March 11, 2020. For the last four years on Valentine’s Day, Westfield has remembered our community members who have died from the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus with a candlelight silent vigil on Park Square Green.
Although the pandemic is over, COVID cases are still prevalent. We are seeing high numbers of COVID cases along with the flu, RSV and other respiratory viruses locally and across the US.
Although the death, severe disease and uncertainty we experienced in the beginning is over, people are still dying. Anyone can get sick or die, but most will get better with only symptomatic treatment.
