WESTFIELD — Last week’s City Council meeting started with Ward 4 Councilor Mike Burns’ recognition of Westfield High School junior Jillian Battles, who just completed her goal of filling 800 support bags for veterans.
In the bags, which took Battles a good portion of the year to gather, were puzzles, games, snacks, tea, personal care items and lap blankets. She also included a personal thank you message in each bag.
