WESTFIELD — On June 20, the City Council approved the city’s fiscal 2025 budget, including $4 million sourced from free cash.
The council agreed to take $4 million out of free cash to reduce the amount that needs to be raised in taxes, but Councilor Kristen Mello said that was always part of the mayor’s budget plan. The vote at the June 20 meeting did not allow councilors to restore any of the nearly $1.2 million in cuts they made on June 13.
