WEST SPRINGFIELD – After winning the Western Mass. Class A tournament in 2024 and 2018, No. 2 Westfield was looking to make it two sectional titles in a row and three in the past seven years. Standing in its way was No. 1 Greenfield who was two years removed winning the Class B sectional.
Following nearly two periods of back-and-forth hockey, neither team seemed like it could get the edge. However, at the 14:07 mark in the second period, the Bombers’ Joe Maffia found a loose puck and slipped it past the Green Wave goaltender Cooper Smith, giving the de-facto visitors a 4-3 lead.
