ST. CHARLES COUNTY, La. — On his way home from work, a St. Charles County Sheriff’s Office supervisor lost control of his cruiser, which flipped over and became engulfed in flames, WWLTV reported.

The officer was rescued by a group of good Samaritans, who were able to pull him out of the car to safety, according to the report.

The first people to arrive on the scene, a Louisiana couple, spoke with WWLTV.

“I’m not a hero. I just did what I thought was right,” the man said. “When I saw a car on fire, upside down, I just assumed somebody was in that car.”

The sheriff’s office told WWLTV that the officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is now recovering at home. The Louisiana State Police are investigating the crash.
