‘Very warm and humid’ conditions, thunderstorms expected Tuesday across Mass.

Forecasters are warning of thunderstorms across Massachusetts on Tuesday, when temperatures are expected to cross 90 degrees across much of the Bay State.

Humidity should make it feel much warmer than even 90, with “feels-like” temperatures in parts of the state nearing 100. The “very warm and humid temperatures” are thanks to a warm front moving through the region.

Behind the front, a plume of moisture will settle in overhead, resulting in “a moist and conditionally-unstable airmass ripe for showers and some garden variety thunderstorms.”

Forecasters expect two rounds of storms on Tuesday, in both the morning and afternoon. Still, the weather service said either round of storms isn’t expected to be particularly impactful.

The region is under only a “marginal” risk of excessive rainfall and severe storms, from the Thursday afternoon storms, which are expected to be the more impactful of the two rounds.

But much about the storms remains uncertain, forecasters conceded.

“Certainly not a high confidence forecast today with respect to timing and placement details,” forecasters wrote.

The showers are expected to continue into Wednesday morning, with precipitation likely most concentrated on the southeastern coast. Drier air will move through on Wednesday, making it feel less humid than Tuesday.

More storms are possible Thursday afternoon, with very warm temperatures set to persist. But by the Fourth of July holiday on Friday, a cold front will have moved in, leaving Massachusetts with less humid conditions and more seasonable temperatures.
