
On Thursday at 8:15 a.m. the National Weather Service released an updated flash flood warning in effect until 11:15 a.m. for Norfolk, Plymouth and Suffolk counties.
“At 8:15 a.m., the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring,” according to the weather service. “Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.”
Locations impacted by the warning include Boston, Quincy, Weymouth, Braintree, Randolph, Milton, Stoughton, Dedham, Hingham, Canton, Scituate, Winthrop, Holbrook, Hull, Cohasset and Avon. Several roads closed in the warning area including I-93 near Furnace Brook Parkway.
