United Airlines flight scrapes tail during takeoff at Boston Logan Airport

A flight leaving Boston Logan International Airport was forced to turn around after a reported tail problem Wednesday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The crew onboard United Airlines Flight 2396 reported scraping the tail of the plane on the runway during takeoff around 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, the FAA said in a statement sent to MassLive.

The Boeing 737 was headed to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The flight did return and eventually took off and landed safely, according to the FAA. It is unknown how many passengers were on board and there were no reports of any injuries, according to Boston25.

United Airlines said passengers were accommodated on the next available flight to Newark that night. The FAA is investigating this incident.
