Two shot in Brockton early Tuesday morning

Two people were shot overnight in Brockton not far from the site of a fatal shooting on Easter morning, police said.

Brockton police received a report of gunshots at 12:27 a.m. Monday on Ash Street, and found “two victims” when they arrived, Darren Duarte, a spokesman for the department said in an email.

A body bag was taken out of the home Tuesday morning, WCVB-TV reported.

Detectives from Brockton and the Massachusetts State Police are investigating the shooting. When asked about the condition of the two people, Duarte referred comment to Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz’s office.

A spokesperson for Cruz’s office could not immediately be reached for comment.

The shooting marks the second act of violence this week in the South Shore city, after 27-year-old Sedrick Abreu was shot and killed early Sunday morning.

Police have arrested two people in connection to Abreu’s killing and believe his younger brother, 20-year-old Jeremiah Abreu was the shooter. Jeremiah Abreu has not been taken into custody.
