PERRY COUNTY, Ky. — A man is in custody after slipping out of handcuffs and stealing a sheriff’s office cruiser, prompting a multi-agency search and foot pursuit.
According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had arrested a 30-year-old man on an indictment warrant and had recovered 40 grams of methamphetamine and several thousand dollars in cash as part of the investigation. The suspect was handcuffed behind his back and placed in the back seat of a Perry County cruiser parked at Perry County Park.
Around 8 p.m. on Aug. 13, the suspect managed to escape the cuffs and drive off in the Dodge Charger. Authorities issued a community alert stating the suspect was considered armed and dangerous, urging the public not to approach him and to call 911. The sheriff’s office noted it had only two Chargers matching the stolen vehicle’s description.
On Aug. 14, the sheriff’s office announced that Combs had been located in Letcher County and taken into custody after a foot pursuit involving Kentucky State Police troopers.
Authorities said additional updates will be released as the investigation continues.
