Super Bowl LIII MVP becomes latest former Patriots player to join FOX’s NFL coverage

Julian Edelman is the latest Super Bowl champion to join FOX Sports.

The network announced on Thursday that the former New England Patriots wide receiver and three-time Super Bowl champion will be part of “FOX NFL Kickoff” for the upcoming season. Edelman will replace Sean Payton, who left the network in the offseason to become the new coach of the Denver Broncos.

Edelman will be alongside Charissa Thompson, Charles Woodson, Michael Vick and Peter Schrager.

“Joining FOX Sports is a dream come true,” Edelman said in a statement, per FOX. “I grew up watching the NFL on FOX on Sundays, and now being an analyst for ‘FOX NFL Kickoff’ feels full circle. Twelve years in this league has given me insight and opinions that I’m eager to share alongside the talented FOX NFL cast and crew.”

Edelman had a decorated career despite it ending prematurely due to a knee injury. Aside from his three Super Bowl titles, the wide receiver, who officially retired in 2021, was also named Super Bowl LIII MVP after he caught 10 passes on 12 targets in New England’s 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams. He also had an improbable catch that was a turning point in the Patriots’ historic Super Bowl comeback over the Atlanta Falcons and was Tom Brady’s most-trusted target during their time together.

Speaking of Brady, he will also be part of FOX’s NFL coverage beginning in 2024.

“FOX NFL Kickoff” airs every Sunday during the NFL season at 11 a.m. ET.
