Springfield water customers face new fee amid calls for board reform

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield Water and Sewer Commission customers are seeing a new $11.50-a-month fee on their bills starting in July. That new expense comes as a Western Massachusetts lawmaker proposes to add voices beyond Springfield to the utility’s board.

“It is the living incarnation of taxation without representation,” said state Rep. Aaron L. Saunders, D-Belchertown. “These towns have no say.”
