Russell commemorates Knox Trail’s 250th anniversary with wreath laying

RUSSELL — A wreath laying took place on Friday, Jan. 9, at the Henry Knox Monument located on the corner of General Knox Road. It was among many area commemorations of the 250th anniversary of Jan. 12, 1776, when Knox led a crew of teamsters driving oxen and carrying cannons captured from the British at Fort Ticonderoga in New York through the Berkshire hills, and then through Westfield on his way to Cambridge to challenge the occupation of Boston by the British army.
