Rite Aid to close about 150 locations; here’s where in Massachusetts

Rite Aid is closing about 150 locations across the U.S., including in Massachusetts.

Business Insider reported the drugstore chain will close 154 stores as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy and had identified underperforming locations in a court filing Monday.

The only Massachusetts location expected to close as of Wednesday was in Webster, which is located at 80 East Main St., according to the news outlet.

The only other New England locations to close are located in Bethel, Connecticut and Merrimack, New Hampshire.

“Rite Aid is continuing to deliver leading healthcare products and services across its retail and online platforms for the nearly one million customers it serves daily,” the company said in a press release Sunday. “The Company remains committed to improving health outcomes and delivering on its purpose to help people achieve whole health for life.”

For customers impacted by the store closures, Rite Aid said it is making sure those people still have access to health services, “whether at another Rite Aid or a nearby pharmacy, and will work to transfer prescriptions accordingly so that there is no disruption of services.”

They also expect to transfer employees to other Rite Aid locations “where possible.”
