Residents concerned about ecological effects of solar farm in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — Renewable energy company NextGrid is eyeing a Sixteen Acres property as the site of a solar array, but residents are concerned that the site may be too waterlogged to build upon.

The solar farm would stretch along the length of the Five Town Plaza, which abuts Allen Street on one side and the Bicentennial Highway on the other, according to planning documents viewed by The Republican. The company shared its plans with neighboring residents.
