LONDONBERRY, N.H. — A New Hampshire State Trooper was brought to the hospital after police said a Massachusetts driver crashed into their cruiser on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

The crash happened on Interstate 93 North in Londonderry, New Hampshire, around 3:40 p.m., according to New Hampshire State Police on Facebook.

State troopers determined that the cruiser was parked on the right shoulder of the highway while helping out at a construction site. The cruiser also had its blue lights on, police said.

It was also determined that a grey 2017 Hyundai Elantra was driving in the right breakdown lane before hitting the cruiser. The trooper was inside the car at the time of the crash, police said.

The trooper and driver of the Hyundai, identified as 36-year-old Michael Shanahan, of North Chelmsford, were brought to Elliot Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Luan Sanches at Luan.G.Sanches@dos.nh.gov or (603) 227-0114.
