Fallon Health, a not-for-profit health care services organization based in Worcester, announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Manny Lopes as president and CEO, which will take effect July 1. The selection of Lopes follows a national search that began after the organization announced the planned retirement of President and CEO Richard P. Burke.

The board has also appointed Chief Financial Officer Todd Bailey to serve as interim CEO following Burke’s retirement on Jan. 31 through June 30. Bailey has 30-plus years of experience in the health insurance and health care fields.

Lopes is currently the interim CEO of Fenway Health, one of the first health-care organizations in the country to specifically address the health care needs of the LGBTQ+ community. He previously was the executive vice president of public markets and government relations for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts with responsibilities for the company’s Medicare division. Before joining BCBSMA, Lopes was the president and CEO of East Boston Neighborhood Health Center.

Following a 25-year career at Fallon Health, Burke served the last eight years as president and CEO.
