FOXBOROUGH — A trio of Patriots that missed Sunday Night Football returned to the practice field on Wednesday afternoon.
Trent Brown (concussion), Jonathan Jones (hamstring), and Sidy Sow (concussion) were all back after missing time, however Marcus Jones (shoulder) was absent. The All-Pro returner hurt himself on defense in last weekend’s loss to Miami and didn’t return to the game. Davon Godchaux was also missing, but his fiancee welcomed a baby on Tuesday, so that was likely an excused absence.

If Brown and Sow both clear the concussion protocol ahead of this Sunday’s date in the Meadowlands, it’ll be fascinating to see what New England’s offensive line looks like. With injuries across the board this September, it feels like the Patriots still haven’t found their best combination of five. In his Wednesday morning press conference, Bill Belichick was hopeful that a little more continuity help that unit.
“Of course,” Belichick said. “As many healthy players as we can get out there, and try to get them playing together more than what they have. When they’re available, that’s what we’ll do. When they’re not available, guys that are behind them will step in and play.”
In the coming days, right tackle is the spot that will draw the most attention.
With no training camp due to an illness, Calvin Anderson held his own in the opener, but then struggled mightily against the Dolphins. Will he get another crack there? Or if Sow gets healthy and clears the protocol, will he man that spot? Would the Patriots consider flipping Vederian Lowe there after filling in for Brown?
Belichick has a few options to chose from.
