Patriots have full house in pouring rain ahead of Cowboys game

FOXBOROUGH — Ahead of a date in domed Dallas, the Patriots opted to hold their final practice of the week outdoors in heavy 57-degree rain.

The team could have held the session indoors in their practice bubble, but Bill Belichick opted not to.

Forecasters are calling for temperatures in the high 90s in Arlington this weekend, so the roof at AT&T Stadium will almost certainly be closed.

There was good news for the Patriots when they got out to practice, as everybody on the roster was present. Davon Godchaux (ankle) didn’t warm up normally though, so it’ll be interesting to see what New England lists his participation level as when the injury report is released later Friday afternoon.

The Patriots placed Daniel Ekuale on injured reserve earlier this week, so having Godchaux unavailable in Dallas would be another blow to their defensive line depth. On Wednesday, Belichick explained there’s no magic wand to fix that.

“I wouldn’t say there’s a lot of Hall of Fame defensive linemen walking around right now that just aren’t with a team,” Belichick said. “We’ll manage the position and we’ll do the best we can, whatever that is.”
