Ahead of the Super Bowl kickoff between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadephia Eagles, Patrick Mahomes had a sit-down with Tom Brady as part of the FOX broadcast.
Right out of the gate, Brady asked the Chiefs quarterback about the difficulty of going from underdog to having a lot of people root against him as he goes for his fourth Super Bowl win, and potential record-setting third straight.
“I have so much more appreciation for what y’all did now because I was someone that was … ‘Man, how do they win every single year? I want the Cowboys to win,’’’ Mahomes said. “But I think, for me, it’s brought us closer together as a team.
“Even if you’re rooting against us, you have to respect us because of the way that we play.”
Mahomes then talked about what he feels makes the Chiefs so good, something Patriots great Brady could certainly relate to.
“We’re going to get it done no matter what the situation is. And we’ve been in so many of these situations, and I think that’s our edge. We don’t panic whenever stuff doesn’t go our way,” Mahomes said. “We just know we can make it right the next play in so many of these big games. Cuz, we don’t have to play guys like you (Brady, Patriots) any more.”
That prompted a smile from Brady, who shot back: “You did fine against me. Trust me. I maybe got you a couple times, but you got me plenty.”
