Boston teacher on leave after charges filed in connection with ‘sexual communications’ with girls

Boston Public Schools placed a teacher on leave Friday after Brookline police arrested him on charges connected to alleged online “sexual communications” with teen girls in other states.

Brookline resident John Gavin, 34, has been charged with enticement of a child under age 16, dissemination of material harmful to minors, enticement of child under age 18 to pose in state of nudity and possession of visual material of a child depicted in sexual conduct, Brookline police said in a press release.

Gavin is accused of having “sexual communications over the internet” with as many as six girls aged 12 to 17 years old who lived in Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina and Florida, police said. He is accused of asking the girls to send him nude pictures of themselves and sending them nude photos of himself on Discord. In some of the conversations, he told his victims he was a school teacher.
