Pair of winning Powerball tickets sold in Mass.

The more than $1 billion Powerball jackpot may still be on the table, but two tickets sold in Massachusetts on Monday made for a pretty good consolation prize.

A pair of tickets awarding $50,000 prizes were sold in Massachusetts — one in Saugus and one in North Reading. The winning ticket in Saugus was sold at a Stop & Shop on Main Street, just off Route 1. The North Reading winner was sold at a 7-Eleven that also just so happens to be on Main Street.

In Powerball, players select five numbers between 1 and 69 and one Powerball number between 1 and 26. They then choose how many drawings they want to use those numbers for. Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

Players who match all five numbers and the Powerball number win the jackpot, which currently stands at more than $1 billion. They have 1 in 292,201,338 odds of winning this prize.

Both $50,000 winners matched four numbers and the Powerball number.

The Massachusetts State Lottery releases a full list of winning tickets every day. The list only includes winning tickets worth more than $600.

So far, the three largest lottery prizes won in Massachusetts in 2024 were all $4 million prizes. One was claimed on Tuesday, Jan. 16, another was claimed on Tuesday, Feb. 27 and the third was claimed on Tuesday, March 19.

Overall, there were more than 850 prizes worth $600 or more won or claimed in Massachusetts on Monday, including 29 in Worcester, 28 in Springfield, and 63 in Boston and its neighborhoods.

The Powerball Jackpot has not been hit since Jan. 1, when a single ticket sold in Michigan won $842.4 million. Since then, the total prize has grown to exceed $1 billion, one of the largest prizes in the history of the game.

Powerball tickets cost $2 each.
