BOSTON — While the Knicks were talking about their stunning Game 2 win over the Celtics, during postgame media availabilities, there was an unexpected turn. The TD Garden fire alarm went off during the Knicks’ interviews right when Josh Hart was mid-sentence.
“This is about continuing to get better,” Hart said before hearing the alarms. “Nobody else is worried about that?”
He went on to finish his answer to the question. Soon afterwards, players, media members and everyone else in the building were told to evacuate the premises because of a fire. The alarm went off at roughly at 10:22 p.m., about an hour after the conclusion of Game 2.
Media and workers were allowed back into the building at around 10:41 p.m., though some of the elevators were off-limits. Media members waiting for Jayson Tatum in the Celtics interview room were told it was not a false alarm before being asked to evacuate the building.
The Knicks beat the Celtics in Game 2 in shocking fashion, coming back from another 20-point deficit just like they did in their Game 1 victory. New York now leads Boston 2-0 in the East semifinals with the series shifting to Madison Square Garden for the next two games.
