Mice droppings on booths, soiled equipment plague Boston’s only TGI Fridays

“Old mice droppings” found on booths at a TGI Fridays location in Boston was one of multiple problems health inspectors found earlier this month.

Issues with mice were previously noted in multiple health inspections for the TGI Fridays, located at 1625 Tremont St. in Roxbury, according to the city. Other issues at the Roxbury location, including a “soiled” microwave and “heavily soiled” dishwasher, have been noted in health inspections throughout the year.

TGI Fridays says it’s working on fixing the issues.

“We take this matter very seriously. We are working closely with the Boston Health Department and have implemented immediate corrective actions,” TGI Fridays said in a statement. “We remain committed to the highest health and safety standards and have taken all steps necessary to ensure an excellent experience for both our guests and team members and reopen promptly.”

In July, health inspectors saw the ice machine and microwaves were “soiled” inside and outside, and the refrigerator, dishwasher and oven were “heavily soiled.” The dishwasher had “black substance build-up,” and shelves had “visible food spills and dry foods encrusted backsplashes,” according to the report.

Sinks were also dirty and floors had food crumbs.

In November, officials said there were mice droppings on the floor in the kitchen area. During the same inspection, officials said the refrigeration units were “heavily soiled” and there was “black substances in between equipments.”

When health inspectors returned in December, there were “multiple booths observed with old mice droppings.” Officials said a door was missing a weather strip.

“Install to prevent rodent entry,” the report states.

Plus, the refrigeration unit remained soiled. And clean glasses at the bar were “stored on soiled equipment.”

There is only one TGI Fridays in Boston. It also has locations in Everett, Methuen, Millbury and Stoughton.
