Snowfall ceased overnight across the state, though scattered precipitation could begin again and continue through the morning before giving way to sunnier skies and warmer temperatures in the afternoon.
But more snow could be in the forecast for Christmas Day, according to the National Weather Service.
Boston and portions of Cape Cod & the Islands could see more precipitation Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service, with a chance of scattered snow and rain before noon. Any precipitation in those areas would be light. The eastern part of the state will see high temperatures in the upper 30s, falling to the low 20s overnight.
A wind advisory has been issued for Cape Cod & the Islands from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, as the area will be hit by gusts up to 45 mph and sustained winds 20 to 30 mph.
Mostly sunny skies are forecast for Central Massachusetts on Wednesday, with a slight chance for snow flurries or a wintry mix in the morning. The National Weather Service predicts a high temp in the upper 30s and wind gusts up to 36 mph.
Western Massachusetts should see cooler temps and clearer conditions, with no precipitation in the forecast for Wednesday and a high of 31. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Berkshire County, as wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected.
As for the holiday forecast, there is a chance for a white Christmas, as Thursday’s forecast calls for cloudy skies and a chance of snow showers before 11 a.m., changing to a wintry mix in the afternoon as high temperatures reach the upper 30s.
Lower temperatures and more substantial precipitation is expected Friday night, with snow potentially giving way to ice and rain over the weekend.
