Frigid conditions continue in Massachusetts, where Wednesday will begin and end with sub-zero wind chills.
High temperatures across the state will only reach the low 20s in Boston, Worcester, Springfield and Cape Cod & the Islands, while the Berkshires will top out at 16 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Despite mostly sunny skies, a consistent wind will make residents feel 10 to 15 degrees colder throughout the day.
Evening temperatures will drop into the single digits in Boston, while Central Mass will hit 4 degrees and Western Massachusetts will likely see temps at or below zero.
The arctic cold will remain all week, according to the National Weather Service, with even lower temperatures expected Thursday and Friday. Saturday should rebound slightly but still remain well below freezing across the state.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has issued a cold weather advisory for the city, as wind chill readings on Thursday and Friday could reach minus 10 degrees.
Sunday could see another storm move through the region, as forecasters monitor a potential “bomb cyclone” that could be forming off the coast. The National Weather Service’s early forecast calls for a 40% chance of snow; predictions will begin to be made with more confidence starting on Thursday.
