A teacher in Franklin is on leave amid an investigation into claims of inappropriate images on a school staff member’s phone, officials announced this week.
The teacher was placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into allegations of “inappropriate material that contained adult images” on a staff member’s personal phone, according to a statement sent to the Franklin Public Schools community by Superintendent Lucas Giguere on Friday.
The statement does not clarify whether the teacher who was placed on leave was the same staff member who allegedly had adult images on their phone.
The investigation, which remains ongoing, was launched Thursday by the school district in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Franklin Public Schools, the superintendent said. The town’s school resource officer and school committee have been notified per standard procedure.
No further details about the investigation were released by school officials to the public.
“We understand that you and your children may have additional questions,” Giguere said. “Please understand we have shared the extent of what can be shared at this time given the ongoing investigation into what has been reported.”
There are counseling staff prepared to support students, according to the superintendent.
“This is a matter that we take very seriously as a school community,” he said.
