Sunday and Monday’s varied storm left a wide variety of snowfall totals as the dust began to settle on Monday, with some communities barely registering half an inch with others reporting more than 6 inches.
Many schools were canceled or delayed on Monday as snow continued to fall.
The communities with the highest snowfall totals reported to the National Weather Service office in Norton as of 7 a.m. on Monday were clustered at the northern portion of the state.
In Worcester County, Ashburnham reported the highest total in the state at 7.7 inches. Fellow Worcester County community Lunenburg reported 6.1 inches.
Ashby in Middlesex County reported 6.9 inches. The only other community to top 5 inches was Plainfield in Hampshire County with 5.5 inches.
Worcester reported 3.4 inches and Boston reported 0.2 inches at Logan International Airport and on Beacon Hill. Springfield did not have a reported snowfall total, but West Springfield reported half an inch of snow.
